The City Council may grant honorary citizenship to persons who have influenced the development of the City of Zwickau in an outstanding manner and over a long period of time and who have earned special merits in doing so, as well as to persons who have contributed to a noticeable improvement in living conditions over many years through their commitment and outstanding work for the City of Zwickau and its citizens and/or have contributed to the enhancement of the reputation of the City of Zwickau at home and/or abroad.
